Judith White Brockenbrough McGuire was the wife of John P. McGuire, principal of Episcopal High School, Alexandria, Va. She authored published in 1867 and reprinted in 1986. The Diary of a Southern Refugee, The collection is an apparent address by an unidentified Southern woman in 1925. Excerpts from McGuire's diary are interspersed with comments, many suggesting how McGuire's experiences reflect the noble qualities of Southern women during the Civil War.
